Merge PDF, Split PDF, Rotate PDF, Organize PDF pages, Extract PDF pages, Delete PDF pages, Split PDF by size or bookmark, Redact PDF, Unlock PDF and Repair PDF stop rather than risk losing a form’s fields. Flatten a copy first, check every visible answer in it, then open the flattened PDF in the tool you wanted. Keep the editable original; protected or XFA forms may need a compatible form application first.
The PDF is probably a scan: a picture of each page with no text layer behind it. PDF to Word, PDF to Markdown, Compare and splitting at page-start text all read their words from that layer. Run OCR PDF first — it recognises English only — and check names and numbers against the page image.
Compress PDF takes the limit in KB or MB and tells you whether the result fits. By default it never lowers quality, so a PDF of photos or scans may barely shrink: choose Reduce under Pictures for those. If it is still over and the form accepts several files, split it into pieces around a file size.
Open it in another PDF viewer first. An image renamed with a .pdf extension is still an image: convert it with JPG to PDF. If a viewer reports the PDF as damaged, Repair PDF can rebuild the pages that are still readable, but it cannot recreate bytes that are missing.
Cropping hides what is outside the box, and a shape drawn over words only covers them: in both cases the content is still in the file. Redact PDF rebuilds each marked page as an image with the marked areas painted out, checks that no text can be extracted from it, and leaves the original’s metadata, bookmarks and attachments out of the result. If only the Author or Title needs to change, Edit PDF metadata does that without touching the pages.
Sign PDF places a visible signature mark, with the standing of signing a printed copy. It is not a certificate-backed digital signature, identity check or trusted timestamp, so it cannot prove who signed. If one of those is required, use a signing service that provides it.
Unlock PDF removes protection from a document you are authorised to change, using its password. It is not a password cracker: without the password, renaming or retrying will not get past the encryption, so ask the document’s owner or administrator.
Rotate PDF turns only the pages you pick; judge by the direction of the text, not the shape of the thumbnail. Reordering with Organize PDF pages does not change numbers printed on the pages, so add new page numbers once the order is final.
