Filozy

Foxit alternative

Foxit is the bigger product. Filozy never receives your file.

Foxit sells a genuinely complete PDF suite: desktop, web and mobile apps, OCR that lets you pick the document's language, legally binding eSignatures with audit trails, and the compliance documentation a procurement team asks for. Its free online tools are free, need no account, and are honest in their own privacy policy about how they work — your document is uploaded to Foxit's servers, processed there, and deleted afterwards. Filozy is a narrower thing built on one constraint instead: 39 tools, no account, no certified signatures, English-only OCR, and every operation running in a Web Worker on your own machine, so the document is never sent anywhere at all. If you need the feature, Foxit has more of them. If the file is the part you can't compromise on, that is the whole reason Filozy exists.

What Filozy does instead

Filozy's document tools process the files on your device and save the results locally, without uploading your document to our server. Multi-step workflows can temporarily store a result in your browser to carry it to the next tool; see the privacy policy for cleanup details. The website and supporting engine files still require ordinary web requests.

When Foxit is the better choice

Questions people ask

Does Foxit upload my PDF to its servers?

Yes, and Foxit says so openly. Its privacy policy states that files uploaded to Foxit cloud services "are stored on an appropriate server infrastructure for processing", that uploads are "deleted once the process is completed", and that output files "will typically be deleted in one day". That is a clear and reasonable retention policy — it is just a different model from Filozy's, where the document is processed by your own browser and no document bytes are sent to us at all. Loading any web page fetches that page's own files, Filozy included; the claim is about your document, not about network traffic in general.

Is Foxit's free online tool really free, and do I need an account?

For the online tools, no account is needed — Foxit's converter FAQ says "there's no cost and no account needed for the online converter". What the free tools don't cover is spelled out in the same answer: batch processing, unlimited conversions, editing and OCR sit behind Foxit PDF Editor. Each online tool also prints its own upload size cap in the dropzone, and those caps differ by tool. Filozy has no account, no cap beyond your device's memory, and no watermark, but also a much smaller catalogue.

Can Filozy replace Foxit PDF Editor?

For most people, no. Filozy has 39 tools; Foxit sells a full suite with a much larger feature set. Filozy has no certified or digital signatures, no native desktop or mobile apps, no cloud storage, no team or admin features, and no non-English interface. Its PDF-to-Word conversion is weak on multi-column layouts. If you live in PDFs all day, or your organisation needs licences and support, buy Foxit. If you need to merge, split, compress or redact a sensitive file now and would rather it not be uploaded anywhere, that is the job Filozy does well.

Which should I use for a scanned contract in Spanish?

Foxit. Its OCR asks for the document's language, so it can handle Spanish text. Filozy's OCR is English-only — it will not read a Spanish scan properly, and we would rather tell you that than have you find out after the fact. The same applies to the interface itself: Filozy is only available in English.

Filozy is closed source. How do I know the file isn't being uploaded?

You can check it yourself, which is more useful than taking our word for it. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run a job — you will see the page's own files load and no request carrying your document. Every job also prints a receipt that reads like "3 pages · 412ms · 0 document bytes sent". Filozy is closed source and served through Cloudflare, so you cannot audit the code, but you can audit the traffic, and traffic is the thing that actually matters here.
