Filozy

Sejda alternative

The Sejda alternative for documents you would rather not upload.

Sejda is a mature, carefully documented PDF suite — a tool catalogue larger than Filozy's 39, a desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux, OCR in dozens of languages, and a privacy policy that says plainly what happens to an upload. Filozy covers the same everyday jobs without the upload step: the file is processed in your browser and never sent to a server. Below is what Sejda states in its own words, which tools line up, and the cases where Sejda is still the better answer.

What Filozy does instead

Filozy's document tools process the files on your device and save the results locally, without uploading your document to our server. Multi-step workflows can temporarily store a result in your browser to carry it to the next tool; see the privacy policy for cleanup details. The website and supporting engine files still require ordinary web requests.

When Sejda is the better choice

Questions people ask

Is Filozy a free Sejda alternative?

Yes, and without the free-tier ceilings. Sejda's tool pages cap free use at 3 tasks per hour and, on the Merge tool, documents up to 50 pages or 50 MB. Filozy has no hourly quota, no page cap, no watermark and no account — the only real limit is how much memory your device can give the browser, because your device is what does the work.

Does Sejda upload my files?

Sejda Web does, by its own description: "you upload your documents and process them on our servers". Its tool pages say files are automatically deleted after 2 hours, and its security page says documents are encrypted in transit and at rest. Sejda Desktop is the exception — it processes documents locally. On Filozy the document never leaves the page: each job ends with a receipt reading "document bytes sent: 0", which you can verify yourself in DevTools → Network.

What can Sejda do that Filozy cannot?

Quite a lot, and it is worth knowing before you switch. Filozy has no certified or digital signatures — those need a certificate authority and a timestamp service, which are network calls by definition; its signing tool places a visible signature only. OCR is English only. PDF to Word struggles with multi-column layouts, so a two-column report comes back with the columns run together. A phone can run out of memory on a very large scan. And there is no HTML to PDF, Deskew, PDF to PowerPoint, batch rename or workflow chaining, no desktop or mobile app, no cloud storage and no team features.

Is Filozy tracker-free?

Your document is. The file is read, processed and saved entirely in a Web Worker on your device and is never transmitted. The website itself is an ordinary website: it is served by Cloudflare and uses cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics, both described in the privacy policy. Filozy is also closed source. The claim is specific — the document does not leave the device — not that no network request ever happens.

Which one should I use for a scanned document?

Sejda, if the scan is in a language other than English or runs past what your machine will hold; its OCR covers dozens of languages, and a paid plan lifts the free 10-page OCR cap to OCR documents up to 100 pages. Filozy, if the scan is English and of ordinary size — it does the recognition on your device, so a payslip, contract or medical record is never uploaded to be read.
